Our Beliefs

Maye River Baptist Church

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God that He was conceived by immaculate conception and born of the virgin Mary.    We believe that He is the only mediator between man and God and that He lived, died and was resurrected so that we may have eternal life.

We believe that man was born with a sinful nature and that we obtain salvation by confessing our sins and seeking forgiveness in the name of Jesus Christ and by following His teachings in how we are to live our lives.  We believe that this forgiveness comes to us because of the mercy and grace of God

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity.  That He was sent to us to act as our Helper, Counselor, and Comforter and that He resides in the hearts of believers.

We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God revealed to man and that it is true without error. That it reveals God’s will for all mankind and serves to act as the authority for how Christians are to live our lives.

We believe the Church is the body of Christ and is an expression of God’s earthly kingdom and that the local congregation of believers should work together to fulfill Gods purpose.  We believe that everyone is given a spiritual gift to be used in the Body of Christ and that they are called to serve in harmony with other believers to fulfill God’s plan for all mankind.

We believe in the supernatural power of prayer.   We believe that we should seek God’s forgiveness and guidance through prayer and that we should give Him praise for all blessings in our lives and continually seek His guidance, forgiveness, and wisdom.  We believe we should be thankful and give praise for all gifts of God that He generously gives to us.

We believe in the ordinance of Baptism by immersion and in accordance to the Word of God.  We believe that all those that accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior should be Baptized as a profession of their obedience to God and as a profession of their faith.

We believe that we should act as disciples as we seek to follow that which was outlined in Matthew 25:18-20 which states that we should go out into the world spreading the Gospel of God and make disciples of all the earth.  We believe that this evangelism should begin in the home.

We believe in the Rapture of believers and that Jesus will return to earth and reestablish His kingdom.
